A video of Wilders after his arrest at Heathrow. He calls Gordon Brown the biggest coward in Europe. The British have caved into threats of violence, coward is an accurate term.

Agreed.
But I have a question of you, Ibn Al-Rawandi, master of this worthy blog - do you agree that there is enormous contradiction, and even outright hypocrisy, in Wilders' falling back in this whole affair onto the principles of 'freedom of speech and expression' when he himself is calling for the wholesale BANNING of the Koran?

Wilders is a hypocrite, no doubt. He claims the Qur'an should be banned as hate speech, and he is being censored for the same. The issue here, for me, isn't Geert Wilders the man, it is the principle of the freedom of speech.
The British government would have caved and banned a non-hypocrite just the same. The issue is Wilders criticized a religion, using what I deem to be truths, he was vilified and attempts on his life were made, and the British government banned him so they didn't have to face down a Muslim population that they cannot control and are too scared to confront.
There are two issues:
1) Free Speech
2) The cowardice of European governments in dealing with groups that seek the destruction of Euro society.
The fact that Wilders is a hypocrite about banning the Qur'an is irrelevant.
'The British government would have caved and banned a non-hypocrite just the same.'
Exactly. I expected nothing less from the master. No joke here.
There are lamentable wails going up about the politics of this man, which are arguably bigoted, based in fear and ensuing hatred, and these very same wailing people seek to make an equivalence between, on the one hand, his proper good sense on Islam and his improper, fear-derived and hateful policies on the other.
Thank you for nailing it as it should have been done long ago by people more influential and more in the public eye than you and me.
